On 17 August 1935, the James Jackson Cabot professorship of air traffic regulations and air transportation was established at Norwich University thanks to the support of trustee Godfrey L. Cabot. The professorship was named in memory of Godfrey Cabot's son, James Jackson Cabot, an officer in the U.S. Flying Service during World War I.
